Properly photographing a 3.5" floppy disk for archival is annoyingly complicated. The label has THREE sides!
I've already built an automated system to take a picture of the front of a disk, but really I need to take THREE photos if I want to get the whole thing.
That means either three cameras or I need to rotate the disk 90° and then 180°, which is going to really stress the limits of my mechanical engineering skills.
EDIT: There's a typo in the alt text. It's supposed to read "Some people, when confronted with a problem, think 'I know, I'll design a keyboard.' Now they have two problems"
I don't know who needs to hear this (that's a lie: ~80% of drivers) but when you're in a turn lane or an exit only lane, you should still signal to confirm to those around you that you are aware of the lane you're in and where it's about to go.
@TechConnectify my dad used to pull into the intersection, wait right until the last minute, then flick the turn light on and turn simultaneously. He liked to keep people on their toes
@TechConnectify It's funny, many times I will be in an exit only lane, and have my directional on. It crosses my mind routinely whether I need it on, or not, but I leave it on because why not. I learned to drive over 40 years ago, and we were taught to always use turn signals.
@foone I'm old enough to remember doing a couple of projects like this in school, and IMHO, it's a more civilised way to build PCBs for small projects;)
It's annoying when people complain that my content is "too eurocentric". And after making my Shinjuku station video a lot of people are saying that "finally" there's some "non-eurocentric" content. 🙄
I make videos about MY experiences in cities. I don't summarize a bunch of facts you could easily find on Wikipedia, Twitter, or news articles, and then lazily recite it over stock footage.
I actually GO to places, experience them in person, and over 90% of my videos is footage I filmed myself.
I live in Europe. I experience Europe. I go back to Canada once a year to see family.
That's not "eurocentric", those are my regular lived experiences.
I am not going to travel out of Europe (and Canada) regularly.
That's not not a realistic thing financially, but it's also completely irresponsible from a climate perspective, and wouldn't be fair to my family either.
And it bugs me because these comments show absolutely no respect for me, or the creative process behind my videos.
@publixpace it's legitimately hilarious how I still get comments (and even emails!) from people who feel the need to "correct" me on my flags in my "winter cycling" video.
As if I wouldn't know the flags of Belgium and the Netherlands when I've lived in both countries.
Or how I could somehow use the wrong flag from Wikipedia when the country name is literally in the filename.
The best part is that they only ever notice one and don't realise that the other one is wrong, too. 🤣
if I had a lot more time I think I might write a book on my ideas about "adversarial automation".
The idea that the point of computers is to help the humans do their job faster and easier, and sometimes the computer or the software on it is the enemy in that battle.
@foone I'll say! Waiting is the wooorrrrsssttt. I hate it to my bones. Maybe bcs ADHD but still it winds me up until I explode when t happens too often
@Volksverpetzer@ilumium Dann hätte er doch auch gleich Bogdan #Syrotjuk aus dem Gefängnis entlassen können. Aber das wäre zu viel Entnazifizierung an einem einzigen Tag gewesen.
