if I had a lot more time I think I might write a book on my ideas about "adversarial automation".

The idea that the point of computers is to help the humans do their job faster and easier, and sometimes the computer or the software on it is the enemy in that battle.

It's funny how I've seen multiple people talking about how Microsoft Recall doesn't take pictures of DRM media, as if this was a conscious decision the Recall team made, and not just a natural consequence of how screenshots already work on modern windows.

@foone I suppose you haven't seen the discourse about how the folks telling us that are missing the point and being useful fools...

The point/the claim isn't that they made a special exception in Recall not to screenshot locked-down media. The point is the extent they went to to enforce the interests of movie industry when that was engineered, vs the complete lack of attention to anyone standing up for users and how to protect their interests against Recall.

tbh I know a lot of you aren’t ready for the end of Man because you aren’t even ready to revert to the quality of life in the 1980’s. We’re talking European QoL here. No A/C.

@SwiftOnSecurity No problem, we know how to do AC both passively (no energy input) and actively without significant electricity (only solar heating as energy input, aside from boring small loads like fans and pumps). Just need to get our act together and do it.

@foone I mean those things probably did happen; just there was no intentionality and we haven't heard about it. Surely somebody's died from bad medical advice from this shit. NTM as a result of being denied employment or benefits...
