@indigoparadox@mastodon.social

I'm interested in things (computers, mostly. Old computers, handheld computers, personal computers, minicomputers, etc). Sometimes I also like manga, Pokemon, Vocaloid, or other things.

I like programming as a hobby. Mainly in C and Python but I try to branch out sometimes if appropriate. I also like sensors and automation. Check my media tab for more!

I am 30 or 40 years old. 🦝

If this factory ever produces a shell that can actually be fired, I'll be very unhappy.

DID YOU KNOW: Every time Microsoft calls a function DoSomethingEx, it's because it was girlfriends with, and broke up with, the DoSomething function.

@foone @whitequark I use it for stretching in ,y maug engine... If the window size changes, the screen size stays 320x200, after all! 😌

So if fonts can contain embedded web assembly, how long until someone makes a font that runs doom?

@foone TTFs have always had executable code in the spec, tho I don't know about the details. I'd be surprised if nobody's tried in the past 30 years...

Based on this idea:

How about an email client that uses Glide, the 3DFX 3d rendering library?
Specifically targeting the voodoo 2. (I know it's PCI, but there are PCI->PCIe adapters).

The OS can't screenshot it because the OS has no idea what pixels are there!

With all the different microcontroller platforms out there, it's sometimes annoying because there's a solution that does exactly what you want but it's targeting some weird architecture that isn't what you use, or has suddenly become hard to find.

I think it's about time we organize all our open source microcontroller-based firmware around a simple, widely available, and powerful architecture, for consistency and interoperability.

The Intel 80486.

I keep forgetting that I hate keyboards

this makes it a bit of a problem given that's like 1/3rd of everything I do

@foone Things foone hates:

  • Keyboards
  • Floppy disks
  • Reverse engineering old games

I love when sites have 1.5factor authentication.

You put in your username, and it's like "hey, log in with a code to your phone, or a password!" and my password manager already filled the password, so I just hit continue.

and then it asks me to verify a code it sent to my phone anyway for 2fa

indigoparadox ,
@indigoparadox@mastodon.social avatar

@foone I forget where I picked this up but I heard it called "wish it was 2-factor" and that's what I've used for SMS Auth since.

Is anyone planning a Berlin Airlift situation to drop vitally needed hormones and antiandrogens into occupied England?

indigoparadox ,
@indigoparadox@mastodon.social avatar

@foone I would use an An-2, both because of the slower cruising speed thanks to the slats, but also for the communism vibes.
