I have just finished reading the Murderbot Diaries series by Martha Wells.
I thought it was great and now I have a hole that wants to be filled (hurr) with something similar.

It’s the combo of fast paced action, humour & sci-fi/space that I liked. Also nice it wasn’t a sausage fest, and had queer characters too.

Andy Weir’s stuff is similar when it comes to pacing & humour for me. But I’ve read it.

Any suggestions please?

@mattgrayyes "Machine Man" by Max Barry has that funny, kinetic feeling, and several satisfying (for me) "oh I hope he—oh he did! he did the thing!" and is sci-fi but very present-day

The American road system baffles me for many reasons. The main one being:

🔴 Traffic light red:
You can turn right.
There will be no pedestrians crossing. You have right of way.

🟢 Traffic light green:
You can turn right.
There will be pedestrians crossing in front of you. You do not have right of way.

@mattgrayyes this is part of why I frequently prefer to jaywalk. There are too many times that I've had scares with turning traffic. Crossing away from intersections means I'm more visible, probably centered in the windshield instead of hidden behind the A pillar airbag.
