I wonder what definition of antisemitism they use

What kinda fascist, authoritarian bullshit is this? I'm seriously considering giving up my German citizenship (I also hold citizenship in another EU country that recognizes Palestine) because of this. Although I would regularly have to go to the consulate for administrative tasks like renewing my ID, it would be worth it.

Edit: I am a firm supporter of a two-state solution, but one of the two states is not interested in that whatsoever. It is the exact state that is ruled by an antidemocratic, fascist, ethno-supremacist government, which is constantly murdering innocent civilians.
Israel has a right to the 1947 territory set by the UN. But not a single square centimeter more than that.

So by definition, no, I don't recognize the current form of the Israeli state, which claims the entire Palestinian territory.

Maybe the last sentence is hard to see because it's under the picture, but I clearly wrote:

So by definition, no, I don’t recognize the current form of the Israeli state, which claims the entire Palestinian territory.

I explained the reasoning behind this stance in my previous comment.

Andromxda ,
@Andromxda@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

antizionism, counts as antisemitism

Ok whoever the fuck came up with this definition is
a) an absolute moron,
b) a supporter of fascist ideology and
c) against free speech

Andromxda ,
@Andromxda@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

The current Israeli state defines itself as holding all of the territory. I do not recognize that state. The current form of the Israeli state is not suitable for a peaceful solution to the problems in the region. I don't think that the idea of an Israeli state should be completely abolished, but it must not try to occupy more territory than was planned by the UN in 1947. Until then, I can't take these terrorists seriously.

I actually read the new law, and it doesn't seem that bad. I haven't found a single question that directly requires an applicant to recognize the state of Israel, but there are some questions that involve Israel and kinda require that someone at least acknowledges the existence of Israel, in order to answer them.

Couldn't agree more

@Andromxda@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Ok wow! This is really impressive. I couldn't even run Windows or Debian or something like that for 15 years, yet you managed to do it with Arch. May I ask what was the main reason behind trying to keep this Arch installation for so long? Were you just to lazy to reinstall or are there other factors?

Andromxda ,
@Andromxda@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

@partizan mentioned cloning the drive and moving it to another computer. I imagine reinstalling would be easier at that point, that's why I asked.

Andromxda ,
@Andromxda@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

That's really cool, how can I learn more about LVM and that kinda stuff?

The MIT license guarantees freedom for developers proprietary software conglomerates to use FOSS code in their proprietary products. The GPL guarantees freedom for end users the entire FOSS community, both for users and developers.

Andromxda ,
@Andromxda@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

The GPL also makes code available for ANY PURPOSE. It just requires people who modify the code to do the same, which is fair.

For a different reason tho

That's exactly what I used. You can change the theme in the settings. I hate their default green theme, so I changed it to the standard Nitter theme.

Fairphone needs to take security seriously and add support for hardware security features, in order for that to happen. https://grapheneos.social/@GrapheneOS/112320854846225341

Andromxda ,
@Andromxda@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

What they're doing in regards to the environment and paying their workers fair wages (throughout the entire supply chain) is great - unfortunately their security practices aren't. I think buying a Pixel second hand is the best option, it also saves you some money. You already get extended security updates by using GrapheneOS, as they provide full OS updates for the entire period in which Google supplies (firmware) security updates (which tends to be a few years more than they provide Android feature updates. e.g. the Pixel 6a gets 3 years of feature updates but 5 years of security updates. GrapheneOS provides feature updates for the full 5 years).

Andromxda ,
@Andromxda@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

I wouldn't recommend anything older than a Pixel 6, because the 5a will reach its EOL in August, and all the older devices already reached their EOL. Regarding the modem, I don't know what you are talking about, I never had any issues on the 6a and the 7 Pro, and never heard about such issues. But feel free to explain this to me.

Isn't the 6T like ancient? Also, bye bye app compatibility and battery life when running postmarketOS.

Andromxda ,
@Andromxda@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

They even have a guide on how to install Linux: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/linux/install

Andromxda ,
@Andromxda@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

You don't have to choose between binary and source, you can get some pre-compiled packages that you don't care about, but e.g. run a custom kernel at the same time.

Linux Mint, Pop!_OS and ZorinOS are pretty nice for new users. If you want to get a little more advanced, maybe check out something like Fedora Atomic (e.g. Kinoite, Silverblue) or Universal Blue (Bazzite, Aurora, Bluefin). Arch isn't actually that hard, they have an installation script that makes everything super easy (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8YE1LlTxfMQ), or you could watch a video on how to install it manually (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_JYIAaLrwcY, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YC7NMbl4goo)

Never really used Excel or LibreOffice Calc either, but I think it should be fine. OnlyOffice is another option to check out.

Check out Root BSD on YouTube (or on Odysee or PeerTube!). He has quite a few interesting videos about various BSDs, and he actually uses OpenBSD on the desktop. Zaney's older videos are also about BSD, nowadays he mostly covers Linux, but I still like his videos. I also like Joshua Stein's blog jcs.org, he's an OpenBSD developer and has some pretty interesting posts. He's also on Mastodon: @jcs

They get money from Google, Google makes money from ads, if they start blocking ads, Google would probably end their deal with Mozilla

Andromxda ,
@Andromxda@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Without uBlock Origin? Not really. Not Firefox's fault, the internet just transformed into a massive ad-infested shithole, but still, it's unusable without an adblocker.

Andromxda ,
@Andromxda@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Pop!_OS will soon transition away from GNOME to their own desktop environment called Cosmic, because they realized that GNOME sucks.

Andromxda ,
@Andromxda@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Damn, that's another thing about Firefox that absolutely drives me crazy. They implement some feature as an extension, then they include it with the browser by default and just leave the extension there for some reason. It's the exact same thing with Firefox translations, it's integrated into the browser now but they still have an extension https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/firefox-translations/

Andromxda ,
@Andromxda@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

But that only applies to apps that have a lower target than Android 6, right?

Andromxda ,
@Andromxda@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Once there are some fundamental changes in the Android framework, these old apps will actually become incompatible. So Google wants to prepare their users for that scenario, and force devs to update their apps.

Andromxda ,
@Andromxda@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

And I'm sure that there's a completely closed, separated and proprietary subsystem in your CPU that has access to everything happening on your computer. Literally everything, all input and output, everything the CPU is doing, just everything. Look up Intel ME or AMD PSP

Use Bazzite or Aurora if you want an amazing, Fedora Silverblue/Universal Blue-based KDE experience, it's much better than normal Fedora anyway

Andromxda ,
@Andromxda@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

By default it uses KDE instead of GNOME, you have the choice though. It makes some stuff easier for new users. Bazzite is also optimized for gaming and in some areas tries to mimic the Steam Deck experience pretty closely. It also includes all the Universal Blue goodness like ujust (basically a collection of scripts that is very helpful for quickly installing and setting up various things on your system). It also includes some quality-of-life improvements in the Terminal. You could compare it to Nobara, but built on top of Fedora Atomic (Kinoite). Check out their website for more information: https://bazzite.gg/

Andromxda ,
@Andromxda@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Oh I never really noticed. Excited to try it out.

Andromxda ,
@Andromxda@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Same, Debian is the way to go (for servers, I can't stand it on desktop)

Andromxda ,
@Andromxda@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Nice :) I really like it so far, it also seems to have a macOS version, I'm definitely gonna have to compare it to Mona.
