I make dorky YouTube/PeerTube videos about Linux and vintage tech, and occasionally write about stuff. I'm also a geeky musician and used to be a COBOL dev. Pronouns are she/her.

Proudly supported by viewers like you via Patreon and Ko-Fi. Thank you for your consideration!

Mutes/blocks rude folks and reply guys. No offense, just not interested.

KDE Plasma is great. GNOME is awesome. Window managers are wonderful. Everything has quirks but I love all these options we have. I can't wait to see where we take them.

WBEZ just had a pledge drive and didn't meet their goals.

NPR has its problems, but your local station does really valuable journalism for your area and it's accessible to all.

If you haven't listened to your local affiliate or checked out their website, see what you think of their work. If you find it valuable, and you have the means, I think it's good to support such work. Especially now, good, accessible journalism covering your local area and not just national news is important to preserve

@TechConnectify It does really worry me about how our media and news landscape could further erode without public broadcasting.

I'd love to see more options thrive beyond the NPR-heavy APM/PRI space though, and I don't know how we get there at this point.

To be clear, since many folks seem to not understand it:

I am NOT saying Linux and FOSS software is perfect for all workflows. I am NOT saying you aren't "trying hard enough" if you can't switch or don't want to. I am NOT saying my way is better and your way is worse. I am NOT calling you lazy.

What I am saying, emphatically, is that telling people that and are incapable of professional work is fundamentally incorrect.

It's my profession, I do it, and it works.

And, perhaps most importantly: if someone says "I like X tool", replies saying stuff like "you're wrong, X tool sucks" are ABSOLUTELY not helpful.

Doesn't matter if X tool is FOSS, proprietary, Linux, Windows, Mac, or Amiga. Guys with those replies can hit the bricks.
