@notjustbikes it could be a business model, let people pay before you read their comment. 10 cents per word to read it and 1 euro per word as answer. But there should be vetting process to make sure only new comments get through, not a duplicate of a previously answered one.

@Humanius @notjustbikes And the 'fietsstraat' is only an option where the volume of cars is really low. With local destinations, no through traffic. I agree with Amsterdam on those criteria. This particular street is an important ‘artery’ from the car perspective. In the future less so. See black arrow on attached map with vision for the future.

The generation without grey hair is missing now, while they were the founders of the bicycle movement in the 70s. They can't afford to live in Amsterdam anymore?

@kenmccann @notjustbikes this street is scheduled for a make over. The results of this one experiment are to inform city wide policy, this is not supposed to become a fix for this spot. Before the entire make over there will only be minor fixes to potholes and bumps and such.

@notjustbikes the parking itself was elsewhere, couldn’t go all the way. But I think it works with lines of sight that should become visible by adjusting mirrors.

@notjustbikes there is even a (Dutch) Wikipedia entry https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spiegelafstelplaats . It is invented in 1994 by someone from an insurance company. I love it when people take their work seriously and do something extra. There is an old list with the 17 in this country in 2020. The one I saw is not on this list.
