#nobridge I am enough of an antique to remember when the internet used to be a refuge from the rat race. But ever since social media it has become the center of the rat race, right in the mainstream of it. Dunno if Mastodon etc will help that; hopefully it will.

I'm disappointed that progress in dial up modems seems to have stopped around 2002. You can buy a PCIe modem and it'll be 56k just like the PCI modem you bought back in 2000!

We should invest more into improving modems that work over plain old telephone lines.

With all the different microcontroller platforms out there, it's sometimes annoying because there's a solution that does exactly what you want but it's targeting some weird architecture that isn't what you use, or has suddenly become hard to find.

I think it's about time we organize all our open source microcontroller-based firmware around a simple, widely available, and powerful architecture, for consistency and interoperability.
