MMade progress on two RISC-V projects to finalize PCBs. We optimized the CH32v203g6 chip-based QT Py board by reducing it from a 4-layer to a 2-layer to cut costs, and integrated TinyUSB support for better Arduino IDE compatibility. We also advanced the Feather ESP32-C6 project, enhancing its deep sleep power efficiency and finalizing the USB Key 'Trinkey' for standalone gateways or sensors.

Tested the RP2040 Adalogger Feather and are now working on its tester. We're troubleshooting the Floppsy interface due to incompatible floppy drives. Progress continues on the ESP32-C6 Feather with TFT functionality checks. Additionally, we designed an IR transceiver, updated the HUSB238 Type C PD, and two RS-232 level shifters. We also revisited RS-232 transceivers, crucial in pre-USB communication.

We decided to take a look back at our RP2040 "Bones" boards, and found that we somehow neglected to make one for SD card interfacing. so here it is! with a micro SD socket, we connect all the SPI/SDIO pins so either interface can be used. We still have space for all the classic "Bones" elements: RP2040 with 8 MB Flash, USB C, battery charging, neopixel and Stemma QT I2C port.

USB C plug breakout prototype testing

We finally got our USB C plug breakout prototypes put together and now its time to test! of course we love to use our own breakouts when verifying functionality so here we're using our switchable USB adapter to check functionality: power, ground, D+ and D-. if a device enumerates we know its good! we tested the CC line by plugging it into an apple wall adapter: they're picky about having a 5.1K resistor on the CC pin.

Prototype board with the DS2484

We had a customer request for an I2C to 1-Wire converter: handy for when you don't have a spare GPIO, or maybe you can't do fast pin toggling, or maybe you have a single board computer or desktop that you want to connect to 1-Wire devices like the DS18B20. so we spun up a prototype board with the DS2484 (https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/analog-devices-inc-maxim-integrated/DS2484R-T/5020823)

Switchable USB doo-hickey

We don't know what everyone calls these things, but basically we wanted a way to easily monitor or detach the power/ground/data pins on a USB connection for power monitoring or data sniffing. we're using the S&K SDA04H1SBD (https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/c-k/SDA04H1SBDR/10063882) which is rated for 100mA at 5V, so it's not for high current devices, but we like the look of just having 4 compact switches side-by-side and there's lots of microcontroller boards that use under 100mA. DS2484 I2C to 1-Wire converter

In theory, there's a lot of 1-Wire devices out there, but in reality almost everyone uses 1-Wire for DS18b20 temperature sensors. the long wire lengths and ease of 'chaining' by sharing a single bus wire makes it perfectly fine for this purpose. you can bitbang 1Wire on most microcontrollers, and some SBCs like Raspberry Pi have kernel module support.
