We don't know what everyone calls these things, but basically we wanted a way to easily monitor or detach the power/ground/data pins on a USB connection for power monitoring or data sniffing. we're using the S&K SDA04H1SBD (https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/c-k/SDA04H1SBDR/10063882) which is rated for 100mA at 5V, so it's not for high current devices, but we like the look of just having 4 compact switches side-by-side and there's lots of microcontroller boards that use under 100mA.
