Schadrach ,

We really don't do that here, because we skip the rehab part almost entirely because it's bad for the profit margins of private prisons.

Schadrach ,

it would be nice if the democrats fucking tried.

They think they don't have to, they just have to keep you scared enough of the GOP that you'll vote for them out of terror. It's how Biden won the first time, after all.

Schadrach ,

You misunderstand the dynamic. Most GOP voters are going to vote and are going to vote for the Republican, regardless of how awful that Republican is. Voting is a civic duty and party above all are kinda core ideas for them.

Dem voters are a lot more flighty in general. Any barrier to voting no matter how small (even having to rise from the couch) impacts Dem voters more than GOP ones.

There are more Dem voters than GOP ones except maybe in very red states. It's about turnout - US voter turnout is God awful and it's worse among Dems than GOP.

That's why the debate was so bad for the Dems, because it's not about whether or not it pulls voters to Trump but about what it does to Dem turnout.

Which when you try to say it as written sounds like some degenerate version of "lick nuts" which is possibly not intended?

Schadrach ,

That would be accurate. But it would fuck with your ability to open it by just double clicking it, which less savvy users would see as fucking the file.

Schadrach ,

Maybe, but Windows has the advantage of being preinstalled on the hardware most people are buying (meaning they get to skip the install the OS step for Windows).

Schadrach ,

Sure sure, but we're talking ease of use for a typical end user. Also, Firefox isn't mandatory for the other app, so you technically don't need to add that step even if getting away from Chromium in general and Edge in particular is a good idea as regards avoiding advertising.

Schadrach ,

Protest ? Three states in the USA recently banned protesting.

If I'm thinking about the right laws, don't they more specifically make whoever is running the protest responsible for damages or crimes done by members of the protest if said members cannot be identified?

Schadrach ,

Could be, but like countries that use the words "Democratic" and/or "People's" in their names, just because you call something by a word doesn't necessarily mean that word is accurate.

Often "diversity, inclusion and equity" in practice means doing things that would rightly be called out as sexist and racist but targeting the "right" sex and/or race.

Schadrach ,

When one group of people has all the money and all the connections, it’s not fair to say “just treat everyone equally!” because it maintains the unequal status quo

Then targeting socioeconomic status makes more sense. Any system that categorizes people and puts poor white folks in the same "has all the money and connections" bucket as the Clintons and the Obamas in the same "has no money or connections" bucket as poor black folks is not, in any way, actually about having money or connections.

Schadrach ,

This would get messy with inheritances. So if you own and a family member passes away, you'd have to either move into that home for two years or it would be worthless to sell? That's going to create some perverse incentives regarding old folks and housing.

Related to why someone under 25 might own a rental unit.

Also, would this apply to non residential rental properties?
