Remember, if you want to let other people move, it also automatically gives them the legal right to steal your house and leave you homeless. That's why I'm living under a bridge while a family from Mississippi has taken my house. Its okay though. They were born on the plot of dirt between Canada and Mexico, so really that means they're defending my freedom by stealing my house.

Who said anything about giving things away? You just made that up. What, you think immigrants are stealing your jobs and also not paying rent? That's not how thing work in the real world. The only people getting your stuff are the prisons full of innocent people who just wanted a chance at a better life.

Those look like pretty thin slices. They might work. I'd also try it.

Apparently it's okay to commit genocide of an entire ethnic group if a few of them are Nazis, I guess. 'Cause, you know, swastikas made all Germans evil, and it wasn't all the war and genocide making the Nazis evil, right?

Even if you did find a ventilation shaft big enough to crawl through, it would still be a terrible idea. First, they're made of hollow metal. Banging around in there would be incredibly loud. Second, they're not really designed to hold up the weight of an adult human. You'd just destroy it if you ever put your weight in a spot that wasn't supported, and you can't see where it's supported from the inside.

Sadly no. The screws hold the sections they're made of together. The supports don't always have to be on those joints though. They tend to be. It's better to support a joint when you can, they just don't always have to be.

Yeah, it would still be loud, but that does solve the other problems.

OpenSUSE Tumbleweed has it. The Fedora 40 beta has it. Its just a result of being bleeding edge. Arch doesn't have exclusive rights to that.

I mean, I'm all for giving jobs to humans and all, but isn't monitoring a bunch of numbers and sending an alert when they go wrong one of the few things computers are actually objectively better at than humans are?

Edit: Holy crap people. I understand that they're probably not there for that purpose. That was the entire point I was trying to make. You don't ALL need to point out the obvious to me.

It's a giant mess of interconnected programs that could theoretically still be disentangled, but in practice never are. It was very quickly and exclusively adopted by pretty much every major distro in a short period of time, functionally killing off any alternatives despite a lot of people objecting. Also, its creator was already pretty divisive even before systemd, and the way systemd was adopted kinda turned that into a creepy hate cult targeted at him.

There's nothing actually wrong with systemd. I personally wish there was still more support for the alternatives though. Systemd does way more than I need it to, and I just enjoy having a computer that only does what I want.

I didn't say there were better options. I didn't say it shouldn't have been adopted. I said it has some drawbacks, wasn't rolled out very well, and I miss having other options even if they aren't as generally useful for everyone, and it is inevitable that some people would complain because of that. That isn't a problem. It's okay to complain sometimes. We all do it.

I support any country's right to not be conquered by capitalist, imperialist oligarchs whether I like their internal politics or not. I hate it when the US does it, so it would be hypocritical to not hate it when Russia does the same thing.

Yeah, it's kinda sad, because I really like Mate, but it does feel like it's too much of a jack of all trades. It's like Mate is always good, but there's always a better option. Plus it seems like every update takes longer than the previous one. I'm starting to worry about it's future.
