I'd give my life savings to see this from Sanders. Of course, then we'd lose him, so it would have to be part of his retirement announcement.

octopus_ink ,

We'd just be disappointed again. The right would hate him more than Hillary and corporatist Dems still control the DNC. They wouldn't let him win.

OTOH a common opinion I hear is that he probably has more capability for direct lasting change being where he is, and I can see that being true, so there is that bit of small comfort.

octopus_ink ,

Our Democrats would never let him win, and that's before you even get to the Republicans. Republican heads might actually explode if we elected a progressive who dared to call themselves a Democratic Socialist.

Meanwhile, Democrats are also crushed under the thumb of all the money big business pours into bribery lobbying, and they have already made it clear twice that they won't let him get on the ballot.

We'll never get progressive policies or a progressive president unless the progressives infiltrate D to the extent maga has infiltrated R.

I read it as an oblique reference to this:

https://apnews.com/article/trump-hannity-dictator-authoritarian-presidential-election-f27e7e9d7c13fabbe3ae7dd7f1235c72

It may not have BEEN that, but I definitely saw it as a swipe against dishonest elected officials, not against democracy

I have been on the firefox train since it was new. I witnessed the rise of Chrome and Chromium, and never really felt the pull, and worried about everyone targeting the same platform. Figured I'd stay on FF until I had no choice. Don't see myself leaving.

octopus_ink ,

Sure it is. Everyone starts trying to be sure things render correctly on Chromium based browsers and nothing else. Next thing you know people say "Wow Chromium based browsers render pages more reliably than everything else" and then you end up somewhere not too differently from where we were heading. Everything that's not based on Chromium starts getting tossed aside.

I think we're years past the point where the frequency of memes about people saying "I use arch btw" has exceeded people actually saying "I use arch btw" by a wide margin. At this point I'm just waiting for this one to die.

octopus_ink ,

I use Arch btw was always a meme , literally no one ever said it unironically.

There was definitely a time when many folks regularly mentioned using Arch. It did have some novelty when it was new to newish. I was probably one of them.

Thanks for not being an asshole

Not sure that's what was happening anyway.

How about when you are the first person to discover there IS a deadly lookalike to chicken of the woods?

I get your point but yeah - mushrooms are not going to be my goto if I'm stranded in the woods, and it sounds like they really shouldn't be the goto of anyone not already an experienced mushroom forager before they end up stranded in the woods.

FYI -

  • You need to bear with it through the usual S1 growing pains
  • By today's standards it's almost unbearably 90s, especially during the first season (IMO)
  • It really does get great.
  • It made me cry at least a few times.

SG-1 was a great mixture of comedy and drama in sci-fi IMO, and while it's not my very favorite franchise, it's easily top 10 for me. If you haven't seen it before it's worth your time for sure!

Personally I feel like the show really finds it’s legs in S3 but kicks it into high gear for S6.

Really I have to agree with that now that you mention it. I think it had been too long since I watched it. :)

I’m sure every fan has a list of episodes you can skip

I skip nothing on any show! I know people commonly do this, I just don't. If I'm watching it, I'm watching it warts and all. 😁

octopus_ink ,

Fair, I can definitely see how there would be a point of saturation!
