The kinda counterpart to the Torment Nexus is that sometimes as a writer you're not really trying to write a cautionary tale so much as thinking that if the Torment Nexus did exist, you personally would not be able to resist it, and would have a lot of fun (and probably screw up your life big time) abusing the Torment Nexus.

So you're writing about the Torment Nexus because it doesn't exist and writing about it is as close as you can get to being able to play with it.

@foone sigh. Looks around at the pile of unfinished Torment Nexuses and wishes he could actually finish a project before getting distracted.

Incidentally, TIL the accepted plural of Nexus is Nexuses and am extremely unhappy it isn't Nexii as all logic says it should be! 😡
