Meanwhile in Georgia (USA) they completed a new nuclear power plant and they have to raise rates because it went 100% over its $14 billion budget.

There are designs for a giant glass cone put in the middle of the desert. Air under the cone gets warmed and it rises up through a couple turbines on its way out of the device.

Or Civilization, where one more turn becomes five hours where you've barely moved.

Terry Pratchett's "Making Money" taught me enough economics to know that individual debt and national debt are two different things.

When money is not in circulation, it’s not being used to pay for goods and services…it’s just…sitting there being hoarded.

This is why I think the velocity of money should be a key economic indicator. Money moving around and doing work is what makes an economy better for everyone. When it starts to pool in the economy it slows down and benefits only a few.

This is another thing I learned from "Making Money"

If I can't type the program into my TRS-80 from a computer magazine I don't trust it.

That is clearly a gate room with the stargate removed

Edit: I see now that it's a THPS2 map but I stand by my assessment

The closed-source devs I've worked with also lack it.

This is why the humanities are important.

Directory is the older term, but when they started making computers user friendly they needed a friendlier word for it. Folders make sense because people understand putting files in folders in real life.

Exactly, except like all computer metaphors they break down when you get into the details. I can't put a document in more than one folder and update them at the same time IRL like I can do with a symlink.

I don't like what Biden stands for and he has my vote.

Since when do morals have anything to do with voting?

If I followed my morals I wouldn't vote at all because I'm morally opposed to the existence of government.

Machines will always do what you tell them to do, as long as you do what they say.
