I believe the next step after that would be to wake up

They didn't say anything about compiling it themselves, just that they prefer native packages to flatpak

edit: I can't read

  1. Not really, just use your DE's software manager.

  2. This isn't dependent on distro, but your DE, which determines the entire UI. It's like complaining the settings menu isn't consistent between Google's Android and Samsung's Android. For reference, under Gnome, you have to install Gnome Tweaks, then just open that and go to Startup Applications in the sidebar.

  3. Heavily depends on what you want to do. Many use cases (such as Minecraft) don't really need the terminal at all.

  4. Yeah, that's not at all unique to Linux though

  5. Minecraft Java is officially available on Linux, and should be available in your software manager. Minecraft bedrock is not available officially, but a program called Minecraft Bedrock Launcher is available that will let you run the Android version of the game.

  6. I'm not sure exactly what you mean, but media should be available to mount in the side bar of your file manager

You can definitely check, but I would expect the option to exist when the archive is created rather than when it's extracted

Why don't you switch one of them to a pirated copy, if it's your personal computer?

They don't appear to even distribute isos, just a script to create them. Said script is less than 500 lines long, so it's not bad to audit it

It's undefined in math, but not floating point arithmetic

if you give elevated permission to movie.mp4.exe, that's natural selection

Do you have separate scaling factors on the two monitors? I need 100% scaling on one and 175% scaling on the other, which I've not been able to figure out under x11

Ah, right. That's fine with integer scaling, but if you try to use fractional scaling with xrandr, it gets all blurry. I'll consider 2x scaling though

I'm here wishing I could tweak Windows to work like Gnome

It's a (better IMO) derivative of Ubuntu, but it uses the Mint desktop environment by default while Ubuntu uses Gnome. To a casual user, most distros are pretty similar other than their defaults. Those defaults aren't even particularly hard to change. For example, switching mint to Gnome is one command and a couple GUI clicks: https://itsfoss.com/install-gnome-linux-mint/
