@SwiftOnSecurity In my current position I got one week with the departing sysadmin. When asking about the details of a recent ransomeware event he clarified that it was “mailware because it came in an email”

Some other gems he gifted me with before leaving unexpectedly before our final wrap up meeting on Friday afternoon when the power went out:

“We don’t use DNS here; we use DHCP instead”…

…quietly whispered in the back of the server room ”GET THE FUCK OUT OF HER AS SOON AS YOU CAN”
