Hey folks that have a laptop but also have an iPad…

Please help me understand like I’m 12… what are the use cases for having a keyboard on your iPad when you could just type on your laptop?

I’m asking legitimately.
What am I missing?
I have both a MacBook and an iPad but my iPad is very likely not being used to its potential.

edit I usually use my iPad as a sidecar monitor when away from my external display OR as a Netflix machine.

@britt I have an iPad mini, as it fits the midrange between phone too small for docs and laptop too big for carrying. (I like small phones)

That plus a light keyboard are waaaay lighter than my laptop. And smaller!
Doesn’t hurt my thumbs if I’m out and about and have to do some work emails or planning, like it would on my phone.
I don’t do it very often but when I do I’m happy. (Incl. yesterday)

I don’t see the appeal of the bigger iPads for this though as they hit the laptop cumbersome zone.

If you're unsure, here are reasons I vote:

🔹Old people are way more likely to vote than young people.
This means policies / spending are assigned in their favour.

🔹People older than millennials are more likely to vote for more right wing parties. I use my vote to counter this.

🔹Result predictions are regularly wrong. Brexit is one example of this.

🔹Labour may be as transphobic as the tories at the moment, but they're not the only alternative in many places.

🔹The Green Party, Lib Dems, and some independents have both progressive policies and may have a chance of winning in your constituency.

🔹It's not just about the parties.
You can look at the policy voting record for your current MP, and see if they voted for, against, or abstained things like LGBTQ+ rights and welfare policy.

The problem with clicking on ads for cool shoes, is that I keep getting more ads for more cool shoes.

And none of them are made in my size: I’m a UK14, (EU49.5, US13) in men’s shoes.

Most men’s shoes go up to a 12 max, and cool ones usually only go up to an 11.
Women’s shoes maybe an 8 (=7 in men’s). And yep all my ads are for women’s at the moment.

So here’s some stuff that, while none of your business, I’ll share in case it helps anyone feeling alone:

I’m non-binary & have gender dysphoria.
I’m prob demisexual & polyamorous.

I’ve got ADHD, ASD, & a history of depression, & panic/anxiety disorder.
I take anti depressants monitored by a psychiatrist, & see a therapist regularly.

Long COVID gave me Chronic Fatigue

Being “person off the internet” I’m usually careful not to talk about personal stuff. I’m in the odd position where people have a parasocial relationship with me, and are interested in me and my life.

I enjoy sharing my work, humour, and things I’ve made online. But that doesn’t entitle anyone to know anything about my personal life.

I’ve seen other creators have their life and relationships discussed, and I don’t want that.
I’m sharing personal info despite this, in case it helps someone.

At an afterparty for Teardown

An admin of the space said to me:
