When did I state any opinion on UI in this conversation? I just said not everything is apple and MS, and no shit most stuff has similarities people get used to features and there's stuff that just can't be done in more ways. Also I actually find KDE like a sweet spot between windows and android, with a few original and apple features. Just keep whining about how superior you think you are like an average apple fanboy

Woah there! That wasn't a flex, I just said you don't seem so familiar with current computer interfaces. But hey, if you wanna be offended you do you

Anyone using Mac windows and Linux over the years would see that most Linux DEs copy a lot from either MS or Apple, most outside of gnome primary mimicking windows.

So you literally just know gnome and kde plasma. That's cute.

jnk , an linuxmemes in Shit...

are you that dense with jokes?

jnk , an linuxmemes in Shit...

This announcement would be a week after CryptOS imploded beautifully

jnk , an linuxmemes in Toxic linux communities moment:

Problem is the training data might include "Do you know what google is, noob?"

jnk , an linuxmemes in Linux not in meme

Toggling on data collection without informing the user would mean billions of dollars worth of fines in Europe, so I doubt that happens regularly.

More like a few thousand euros symbolic fine and an angry letter saying "don't be an ass again pls our infrastructure depends on you" after years of blatant abuses and anti-consumer practices, followed by an ambiguous law (with positive effects affecting only european users) they will definitely not manage to circumvent withing the next week and a half. Not this time 🤡.

The problem here is the fact that most people just do not give a fuck about this; that's why there's no coverage in the (mainstream) media, why the only people who cares end up just leaving windows and why this kind of options are usually opt-out and they can actually afford to silently re-enable them cuz who's gonna check anyways? Random people ranting on meme communities about my fancy malware?

jnk , an linuxmemes in Wait, it's all Linux?

A version with different distros would be nice. I want to see blood here.

jnk , an linuxmemes in someone tell them

That's the thing, most desktop distros come with a web browser preinstalled, but:

  • It's usually firefox or librewolf, which are objectively superior to edge in any scenario.
  • You can uninstall it right away with either a three word command or open a program with a big red "uninstall" button, no console needed.
  • Nothing breaks, the system literally doesn't give a fuck if you even have a web browser at all.
  • If you want another browser then go for it! You can even use edge if you're a psychopath. Your system wont judge you, but i might sorry-
  • It will never reinstall crap you uninstalled and set it the default on a random mandatory system update.
jnk , an linuxmemes in someone tell them

Tried a few of those once, only one worked and mfker installed itself in the next update. Uninstalling Windows was easy af tho.

jnk , an linuxmemes in I respect people who don't like snaps, but Canonical will not abandon a successful project

Either that or stop babysitting canonical and use debian instead

jnk , an linuxmemes in The fix is scheduled for the next release

So that begs the question: whY THE FUCK haven't i search for that before?

Thanks, I'll be looking into it

jnk , an linuxmemes in configure?

Also !nix moment

jnk , an linuxmemes in The fix is scheduled for the next release

Check on EducaandOS. It's my region's school distro. It was absolute crap around 15 years ago, when they launched (names Guadalinex Edu), but it was preinstalled in school laptops so we learned to use it.

Right now it's pretty decent and simple enough to just throw it into a kid's computer, but sadly nobody gives a fuck about it. It would be so cool if more institutions tried to pull projects like this

Tbh I'm pretty new to nixos, but I'm starting to believe if we had that the exact same config (at least without flakes, I'm still having trouble undertanding them) but with a slightly abstracted UI, it would be one of the most user-friendly distros out there.

Like just imagine being able to click "Add program", write the name of a program, having all the options appear below as dropdown menus or on/off switches, then click big blue button "Apply" to rebuild.
