@foone all us apple 2 school kids had a resource editor.... Ms was all business, no fun,... 3rd parties did all that stuff.

@foone Even if just MS Paint or Paintbrush could export ICO and/or CUR files that would have been a fun change that got more people making custom icons

@foone I was doing something on one of our Active Directoy servers the other day and it struck me how many of the icons still have that Win3.1 look.

@foone Oh I remember I (somehow) got my hands on a Windows 3.1 icon editor back in the day! I thought it was so cool, I made a whole bunch of custom icons for stuff just because I could.

In particular I remember painstakingly drawing an icon for Mortal Kombat. It wouldn't run in Windows of course, but I had a neat icon for it nonetheless.

this is why they don't let me make exploratory changes at the Time Division. everyone else is killing hitler and such, and I'm over here trying to improve the state of 90s icon culture

I'd go back and talk to ancestors. Who were their parents, where were they from, who has the family bible. And, if I could. buy some of the stuff that got sold at auction in 1826 (like the record pages from the bible that was sold).
