I don't know who needs to hear this (that's a lie: ~80% of drivers) but when you're in a turn lane or an exit only lane, you should still signal to confirm to those around you that you are aware of the lane you're in and where it's about to go.
@TechConnectify Really, any time you’re deviating from going straight. I don’t know what it’s like elsewhere but here in #Portland lots of drivers simply don’t signal if there’s no car behind them.
@qgustavor Whether it's a law depends on your jurisdiction, but I don't care about that. It's just the right thing to do and I want to help people understand why.
@TechConnectify This post was definitely directed at me and yes, I need to do this more consistently. Not so much the turning lanes but exit lanes for sure.
@TechConnectify I feel like from some of the replies the problem is also if you've accidentally gone into a turn lane you have to just accept that mistake. Go with it and turn around somewhere unless you're absolutely sure it's safe to move back to another lane.
@TechConnectify this is the sort of stuff cops should write tickets for, but I guess they're too busy arresting students for existing at their own university
