This will punish normal people, the actual criminals will just use something else, like always.
Fuuuuuccckk these inept computer illiterate idiots that come up with this..... Is what I would say if I didn't know this is just thinly veiled attempt #364163549 at getting rid of encryption so that they can monitor the everything while nobody else can, of course...
Yeah, I keep seeing this and it's never been my experience in 20+ years of desktop Linux.
Yeah, every now and then there is the asshole and troll. Go to a supermarket and you'll find them too, go to your job and you'll find those too. I don't call all supermarkets asshole conglomerates, it's simply the world, there are asshats in the world.
I've talked directly to main developers of many systems like LVM, PHP, and so on who spent time to help me fix my issues. Who ever got to talk directly to an Apple dev or Microsoft dev?
It's not just Linux, it's like that with all open source. Yes, there are negative players everywhere, but mostly it has been a very welcoming and helpful group
So you're saying that there are some asshats out there? Those are everywhere.
The open source community, and Linux community in specific mostly is a very positive and helpful bunch. I've been on IRC and fora for years and yes, yes, sometimes somebody says something negative, gee wiz.
So far the most negative types out there seem to be in this post all complaining about how negative everyone is while in reality it's not that bad
Agian, I'm sure there are asshats out there, maybe even just people having a bad day, but generally people in the Foss community are helpful and super nice. Just my experience
They may or may not. I've seen a documentary once about a Jaguar that killed a gazelle (I believe) that just had its calf born. The mother was dead and being eaten, the calf had nowhere to go and just stayed with the Jaguar who then sort of accepted the calf and let it live. They became this super weird parent - offspring pairing that, of course, didn't work. The calf needed feeding, there were obviously no gazelles near, and if I recall correctly it either died soon from malnutrition, or after a few days the Jaguar just killed it anyway. The narrator speculated that the Jaguar might have lost its offspring shortly before and still had that motherly instinct.
Moral of the story is. Animals are driven by instinct and hormones, don't trust they will not shred you.
Also victims of communism: anyone aged 1-99 who happens to be the wrong family, who practices wrong think, who has family members who practice wrong think, who have an opinion, who like to be different, and I can go on for a while....
People like you should maybe watch 'the chekist". Once you're done and not crawled up in fetal position while crying maybe you can think for a little bit about what it is that you really want.
Seriously, you tankie types are nauseatingly naïeve.
Should I also keep in mind that most people don't know how nice Communist counties were to live in? Seriously, give me one, just one country that did communism successfully and where all the people could live in freedom and pursue happiness. Just a single example.
Yeah, try just about all northern European countries. Are there people that have fallen off the band wagon? Of course there are, shit happens everywhere. However, everyone there loves better and more meaningful lives than in ANY communist country.
I don't recall the last time in northern Europe (second world war aside) where literally everyone except a few elites (hello Russia) had to stand in line for hopefully some food
What is it with people here thinking that earning a wage is slavery? That requires either a complete lack of understanding what slavery or just some serious impressive mental gymnastics.
I associate corrupt authoritarianism with communism because it's an inevitable outcome. Communism only works of you remove individual freedoms and force people into it. This, by design, requires a dictatorship. Dictatorships foster corruption because you can't have transparency.
Last time my Ubuntu Linux broke anything during an update is over 15 years ago. Last time a version upgrade failed was probably too over 5-10 years ago. I literally can't remember those times
Maybe next time, though, OP should read what OP posts before OO writes a title, as the content has nothing to do with PHP, its all sorts of languages (none of which PHP) and mostly javascript.
The content is pretty on point in general though, I've had the unfortunate luck of having dozens of developer candidates like that.
And oohh yeah, PHP sucks because everyone else says so and a blog post of 20 years ago said so too? That literally was the last argument I heard against PHP.
Most people doing their job quite literally are just doing their job, trying to make it to the end of the day. Believe me, even people in hr love their children, worry about the future, worry about their job, have hopes, fears and dreams and have to contend with shitty bosses.
Can you imagine one day the CEO coming in with a list of people that YOU have to fire, that YOU have to face, that will cry and yell in front of you as if you're the one who did this to them?
Most people are pretty okay, actually, and not remotely evil. They might do bad things because they're pressured or feel pressured, most people don't enjoy firing others.
I get your point, but in practice It's not that easy. If you have a family that depends on you, you'd pmbe surprised what you're willing to do not to lose your job.
Police officers actually don't just attract bad people, they are specifically selected for it (in the US anyways, in other countries governments may actually care about that sort of thing though YMMV.
Same for human resources. I've known quite a few people working for HR and most are just people, lie you and me, doing a job they mostly like, but yeah, sometimes requires them to be in shitty situations that they didn't envision before.
May be so, but they're still human, love their kids, have problems just like you and me, and most importantly, they too can lose their job. I can just as well say that since I oversee all tech in the company that I work for thst, technically, if I wanted, I could see everyone's salary too. Doesn't make me better or worse or different than you.
You're comparing an HR employee to a military officer? That's apples and oranges right there.
But I'll bite. Most military officers and enlisted are people too, you know. They got kids, they love and hate people too. Hell, even terrorists. Ones terrorist is another person's liberation hero. I'm sure most IDF officers too mat have misgivings about the war they fight but when you're in a military you don't get to complain, especially during a war.
It's easy to vilify people, it's hard to see that each and everyone of us is a human being with hopes and fears.
What is it with these commie types that they believe communism will leave everyone to become hippies who can do whatever they want and all required resources just magically arrive when they need.
It really is watching children believe in Santa Claus
