Windows's built-in tool can make zips without fucking with shit AND the resulting zip works just fine across systems.

Mac though...Mac produced zips always ALWAYS give me issues when trying to unzip on a non-mac (ESPECIALLY Linux)

Windows used to actually have cool theming capabilities in Windows 98 (And I think ME/2000) what the hell happened to that LMAO

It did more than "a few colors", compared to today's fancy modern theming systems it was def rudimentary, but with a single click Win 98 would change colors, the cursor, the entire sound pallette and even button images iirc. I was particularly fond of the Computer theme and the Space theme lol

I don't mind having the choice at least, years ago Amazon did this with their Kindles (or maybe they still do, dunno). You were given a choice on their Kindle order page, save 40$ on an ad supported version or full price and ad-free. Especially modern macOS, macOS has become...too distrustful of the user IMO. Maybe even as a pathway to getting their user base used to a locked down OS on a Desktop/Laptop for future expansion of that walled garden.

Sure, windows has system accounts with permissions levels above admin, like SYSTEM or TrustedInstaller, like macOS. But the difference is you can take control of one of these "Uber Admin Accounts", macOS does not.

I figured, but I wanted to point it out because I'm so tired of seeing good SSDs get shredded or otherwise destroyed for "security".

Shredding was already a bit overkill for HDDs that were able to be properly wiped but at least there were some possible fringe cases. There's really no excuse for SSDs though
