As a slowpoke still in russia I'm confused by these lists. The first thing, sure, is to check if I know anyone from here, and for a long time I've never seen anyone somehow related to me. But what if I do recognize someone? And not dead, but taking a vacation leave in my city. What if I'd meet them in person, knowing what they've done? I'm afraid of that moment but it would eventually come. I can't conpute what I should do in that context and am happy I'm yet to be forced to.

Good job on them OSINT guys. Страна должна знать своих героев, блять. It's good to see them tracked and not cowardly covering themselves with their masks.

Looting can't coexist with discipline, it makes soldiers ignore objectives and being more interested in how to transfer questionable goods back home. It's suitable for barbaric raids of a hit-and-run nature of the past, but in a long multi-layered offensive it means soldiers on the ground has low morale and act on their own, that renders their part of the front vulnerable. Modern armies make sure their troops have food, fuel and other resources for them not to ask around and be easy targets for a sabotage or just hunger, and looting is even worse than that.

Today, no looted goods can cover the price of the offensive. The land taken is useless if it's underdeveloped or\and littered with mines and metal. Human resources aren't effective as uneducated slaves you can't trust as it was long ago.

Modern warfare is political and economical. Looting is done by making other party depend on you, work for you, without hurting their own productivity. Let them be happy to take loans for your people to build them infrastructure, mines, oil rigs, provide security, pocket their politicians and get on boards of all important corporations. Choke them with a belt to make a road. That's when you order to shoot any individual anachronic looters on sight for they mess with your bigger picture.

Doesn't make it any more ethical, but shows how outdated some doctrines may be.

Beaten schoolchildren, military training, and Kremlin propaganda: new report accuses Russia of violating international law through 'Russification' of Ukrainian education system ( www.hrw.org ) Englisch

Russian authorities are imposing the Russian curriculum and Kremlin propaganda in Ukrainian schools in occupied areas of Ukraine and have retaliated against school workers if they refuse to implement the imposed Russian curriculum, a report published by Human Rights Watch days....

I've heard, call it a gossip since I don't remember the source, that russian teachers are promised a livable wage (for once!) and one-time подъёмные supportive payment if they move to occupied regions, so it's not only locals who get bent over a knee or happy collaborators but also a fresh import of the worst unprincipled sell-outs. This profession does need some form of a Hippocrates' oath. I don't know about others but I lost any respect to many of local teachers over the last years.

Russia turns to blackmail and 'financial incentives' to hire Germans to spy to make up for expelled diplomats, German agency says ( www.reuters.com ) Englisch

Russia has turned increasingly to blackmail and financial incentives to hire Germans to spy for it after the blow dealt to its intelligence services by Europe's expulsion of some 600 Russian diplomats, Germany's domestic security service said....

Why to spread it in Germany then? It's the first time I hear about that living in russia, and I'm a passionate collector of crazy conspiralogical theories, thanks to X-Files for that hobby. That exaggeration doesn't paint you in a better light too.

I wonder how long it'd take until they take down STEEP. I suppose it's even less popular than The Crew, but I liked it that much I'd pay once more if someone would keep it alive after Ubi does the Ubi thing. Extreme sports are rarely portrayed in games, and for me it would be a huge loss even though I feel like I enjoyed every penny I spent at least thrice.

Macron says Kyiv should be allowed to ‘neutralise’ Russian military bases, prompting Putin warning ( www.france24.com ) Englisch

President Vladimir Putin said Tuesday that there would be “serious consequences” if Western countries allowed Ukraine to use their weapons to strike targets in Russia, as sought by Kyiv.

Товарищ, that's not a war, just a Special Military Operation, we haven't even started to put any effort at all!

WW2 tank rolls in and dies on a mine

That is... We don't put out our best troops to such operations. It would be silly, wouldn't it?

Tank team covered in fire leaves the vehicle and tries to set off the flames by rolling in the mud.

That's the NATO. The NATO we prepare for. And we save our bestest troops and tech for the final show.

A weird thought, but what if Moldova recognizes Transnistria in it's current borders, catching everyone by surprise? I see no upsides here for that rogue state, while Moldova arguably gets more than it sacrifices. There's like with North Korea not a dream of simple reintegration since shouldering it economically after all these years and fighting a russian openly supported proxy isn't what Moldova can do alone. But clearing itself for joining alliances, closing borders completely, making every violence an act of international agression, rendering Transnistria irrelevant for Russia and thus starving it from support, suggesting every USSR enthusiast to kindly fuck off? The longer it goes on like that, the more it seems like a rational thing to do.

Unlike Donbass or Crimea it exists for 30+ years and actively benefits from being a part of Moldova getting access to it's and EU market through it. Making them independent would crush their economy to the point they'd ask to get back themselves. That'd be then decided by the moldovan citizens. If there's no immediate danger of Russia opening the second front here, this table flip can probably work out. Is it possible?

Hugh? Didn't know that. Can you suggest some additional reading on that?

andrew_bidlaw ,
@andrew_bidlaw@sh.itjust.works avatar

Yeah, I've read that. But the last paragraph of yours kinda diminishes this autonomy in a sense it's not it's own state and is to be returned sooner or later.

It's when you start to add spiritual significance and meaning to it accupuncture becomes bonkers. Otherwise it's a specific form of a massage that lets one single out and affect specific muscles. Therefore a knowledgeable person can make wonders by applying it correctly. As a bonus: the whole experience of laying like a hedgehog.

I specified when it's not placebo and is real. Even in that rare case it wasn't aligning chackras or whatever but served as a surprise remedy to return normal blood circulation. Was it that timely or maybe doctors were too amputation-happy? Either way, not that much mystery, more luck.

Placebo comes when there are claims it treats what's out of it's reach, like cancer, or improves overall quality of life in some mystical way. The worst offence there is cases where patients refuse medications and therapy because they get in a great mood and have some pain relief after a session, like with many other semi-pseudoscientifical treatments. Otherwise it's a nice kind of a physical therapy.

Mint comes in three editions - or with three different Desktop Environments. Think of it like alternative launchers\skins on Android, but more influential on how things work. I believe, some can be better with touchscreens than others out of the box. I'd suggest you to start with a Cinnamon version since it looks more modern and pretty, and with a higher probability of having touchscreen gestures and stuff. All of them are close to Windows in visual design. And since it's Linux, many things can be added or edited afterwards, and be sure someone alresdy asked your question on the web (:

I feel mildly aroused when I see a program or a game that collects everything in it's folder and can be used from a USB drive. Some paid, industrial grade software leaves so much traces and depends on so much different hidden files and keys it's making me sick.

Translated meme picture could fly better, even if done by google lense. Thus it can be shared, as any meme needs in order to be. That's their main quality.

For those confused, the joke's about generic essays ex-soviet middleschoolers write when they start another year after a summer break. Meduza and Rain are banned news medias, rainbow is obvious, Memorial is a society for studying soviet repressions that was liquidated a year ago.

What's with that whataboutism? I don't care about the US. Why do your type brings it up every time, like it makes USSR's wrongdoings more acceptable. It doesn't. It's rather a lesson to learn and not repeat in your country.

and the USSR had a tendency to send a massive amount of their prisoners to Siberia, which would make it difficult to help build apartment blocks several thousand miles away.

So? They built infrastructure there, yes, so it's enormous territory can be somehow crossable. And they also built infrastructure, housing and plants\factories all over it's territory. Gulag wasn't just a one small camp, it's the Main Office of Camp (Managenent), it had a lot of people to send elsewhere, based on what Kremlin wants.
