I'm writing rust without fully understanding the language. Pray for me.

Actually I guess that's true of most language I program in? Like, I'm sure there's some obscure python syntax or behavior I can't remember, despite calling myself a python programmer and having done it professionally for many years.

but my point was more that I barely know any rust. there's entire parts of syntax I don't understand yet. but I'm coding anyway!

Someone really needs to develop a lightweight VM container that we can stuff software in. Like, you know how you can buy DOS games on steam, and it just gives you dosbox preconfigured to play the game?

@foone makes me think of the old Freedows project:

"OS that would be binary-compatible with multiple existing OSes including Windows. Based on the stanford "cache kernel" principle, it aims at providing application kernels that in turn provide functionality of Windows, Linux, MacOS or other systems, to unsuspecting applications written for these systems, all at the same time. "

Being able to containerize the VM and run on a sort of meta-kernel would be cool as hell.

I could go down the long rabbithole of figuring out how to call g*mp's image manipulation tools from a commandline or API, or getting imagemagick installed on this PC and figuring out how to port it over there...

or I could be silly and take advantage of the fact that I'm applying gamma ramps to an 8-bit greyscale image. What's the difference between the "before" and "after" images? a different palette.

I finally figured out what's wrong with my dryer!
There's no drum to put the clothes in. This is a rookie mistake, Samsung.
