@foone The house I grew up in had knob-and-tube wiring and those wires were fiber-wrapped and "nothing bad happened". That said, that house also had a two-story outhouse (fortunately offset slightly.)
Vehicles moved from fiber-wrapped wiring to newer plastic-coated wiring is actually much tastier to rodents. Plus, my old #SeriesLandRover with all that fiber-wrapped wiring only had one fuse, so super easy to work on.
I digress. Yes, hemp cat6 with rope oil and porcelain connectors.
@morgant yeah, I grew up in a house from the 20s, and it was all knob-and-tube cloth-wrapped shit. We only ever had one major electrical issue, thankfully.
@foone Ours house was a New England mill-worker's home from the 1890s, so also had horse-hair and wood-lattice insulation behind all the plaster walls -- Surprise, I'm highly allergic to horses! -- and when my parents sold the house they were required to have the wiring modernized. Very understandable, but difficult with the wood lattice!
@rgegriff I've long thought someone should do shibari with ethernet, but then plug in both of the ends and use it as an actual network, and transfer bdsm porn over it (perhaps just photos/video of this session).
It'd be like getting tied up by the concept of bondage porn itself!
