@foone I think I asked my acquaintance at the time why redbox never cut a deal with an actual distributor (as it would have saved them a lot of money). Their answer … didn’t make a lot of sense to me, but… doing it their way, I guess they didn’t have to ship anything but the machines lol.

@artandtechnic yeah I imagine it's some combination of that and treating the people who install them as contractors. It makes more (financial) sense to hire someone to fling DVDs in it from a local store than it does to actually coordinate inventory and shipments

that's the point of embedding it in the binary, but you could also do stenography on top of that. decompilation will reveal it either way.

@lily right, I'm just suggesting (as someone who reverse engineers/datamines video games) ways to slow down the discovery further.
So it won't be easy to find even if we already are decompiling the binary to find it
