I've used gnome on a relatively new machine and it seemed like it was working fine. Maybe I just didn't notice the performance hit, or maybe it's the same with KDE. Definitely odd though.

Hmm with modern games like BG3 you might run into some limitations with 16GB. Online I'm reading that BG3 uses 25GB of RAM. Might be that the few MB a DE uses are just enough to kick something into the swap file or something.

I don't expect anyone to switch to windows, I'm just saying this myth about windows being unstable does not align with my experiences at all. I haven't even seen a blue screen since windows 7. All the weird behavior I encountered was fixed by replacing hardware, and without reinstalling windows. Sure, linux might run even longer without rebooting, but saying windows can't go past 2 days is just a gross exaggeration.

I hate windows as much as the next linux user but I have to admit windows has been very stable for me despite having uptimes in the months with my work laptop.

Okay, dann habe ich wohl nicht richtig verstanden was genau du mit Zentralisierung meinst. Ich dachte du meinst die Zentralisierung der Macht, die die Plattforminhaber innehalten. Durch die föderation wird das ja eher aufgespalten als wieder zusammengefasst.

Meinst du etwa die Zentralisierung von Inhalten? Damit sehe ich kein Problem, solange die Inhalte gut strukturiert sind.

Was wäre denn sonst der spezifische Vorteil von separaten Blogs und Foren? Ich sehe nämlich nur einen Nachteil gegenüber dieser Plattform: weniger Inhalte. Wobei, Foren hatten oft eine Mehrschichtige Struktur, was die Inhalte leichter zu durchstöbern macht. Aber das könnte man ja hier auch einführen, wenn man es wirklich will.

Naja, man kann social media ja auch ohne Zentralisierung machen. Siehe: diese Plattform. Ich denke aber auch dass man vor allem die Algorithmen regulieren sollte, auch wenn das eine weile dauern wird.

Es ist definitiv problematisch wie träge unsere Regierung auf Dinge wie KI und social media reagiert, aber verstehe ich richtig dass du deswegen meinst, es wäre sinnvoller social media komplett zu verbieten?

Are you sure? The file path after the domain would not be necessary for an ISP to see, only the domain. I'm not sure how all that works, but it's definitely not a technical requirement thay they can see the complete URL.
