@arstechnica my favorite move is removing old books from the internet, but not reprinting them, not even as electronic books

@arstechnica Greed is fully in charge as usual. Viewing through Internet Archive probably has minimal effect on actual sales.

@arstechnica @anildash Didn’t say how many terabytes or petabytes will be lost. Distributed storage protocols should be prepared shit like this happening, right? Right??

@arstechnica this is so sad.

@arstechnica If ensuring access to information means “pirating” stuff, it will be done. All this does is make things harder for regular folks with small incomes and will gradually radicalise them against publishers.

@arstechnica Point in case that a court decision can be perfectly correct and mindboggelingly stupid at the same time.

Then, on the other side there is the library whose name you should not speak. Just mentioning it. Don't get any books there. It's verboten (= your betters, the publisher, lord over the public word, do NOT like and are not amused). Supposedly there is everything there, I know. It's tempting. But VERBOTEN.

Just wanted to remind people, so they don't inadvertently use the library whose name should not be spoken.

Dismal. I hope the "first sale" doctrine is reinstated on appeal, and brought up to date either judicially or legislatively.

If we didn't already have libraries, they'd all be considered illegal at this point.
