Cyanide is used extensively in precious metal recycling too. So even reclaiming resources has a harsh chemical cost. Meeting workers from there I was surprised to say the least about how 'casually' they work with Cyanide. Clearly they have safty protocall but nothing like what I imagined something like Cyanide would call for.
Windmil blades need to be replaced far more often than anything even half that expensive at nuclear facilities and require huge costs in chemicals and transportation. Off shore blades need even more frequent replacement. The best gelcoats in the world arent going to stave off salty air and water spray for long, and as soon as water gets in one small spot, the entire composite begins to delaminate. You don't pay as much down the line with nuclear and you dont have to worry about offsetting the carbon output of manufacturing new blades so frequently.
The US probably does not have the right to exist, not the way it was taken. Rectifying that today is an issue of listening to the people who were here first. The Land Back movement is how the country begins reconciling. Israels future, like The USs future should be paved with large amounts of input from the people who were there before the colonizers were.
I dont think the US has the right to exist but I also know Land Back doesn't simply remove the US from existence and the descendents of colonizers aren't going to be exiled. In much this same way I actually agree that Israel doesn't have the right to exist. It doesn't mean I inherently want them gone, it simply means they had no right to take their nation the way they did and they should be listening to the Palestinians, not warring against them. Saying things like Israel does have the right to exist minimizes things like the Nakba and many other horrific acts. These are not acceptable ways to establish countries in modern times, and the world agrees or no one would be trying to stop Russia right now.
Any Leftist that's done any real organizing has likely worked with Anarchists. Those guys hate all states, and aren't afraid to tell your classic Marxists about how some of those very left states did them realllllly bad. I don't think any leftist whos operating in good faith has a problem with real critisizm. I think they have problems with state department propaganda lines that they have to hear and refute like every time they try to talk about any kind of Leftism.
Especially since those lines are the some of the most detracting arguements there are (probably on purpose) so most times it does nothing but obfuscate the original point and move the topic of discussion away from that point.
