(he/him) I'm a norwegian developer at heart working in Oslo as a researcher in #infosec. In my spare time I love coding in #rustlang, building #lego and solving #crackingthecryptic.

For #books I do mostly #audible and recently listened to Expeditionary Force, Magic 2.0, The Bobiverse, Everybody-loves-large-chests, The spellmonger, He who fights with monsters and Art of the adept. I'm also a fan of Ringworld, Enderverse and Discworld.

Well, I'm curious now — macOS users, are you a "developer" and do you have Finder set to "show hidden files"?

gigantos ,
@gigantos@social.linux.pizza avatar

@fasterthanlime dev, default settings. I haven't seen any reason to change them. Why would I use Finder for anything when I have the shell? The only times I use it is to open files in the web browser or some other utility.

Oh my god.

All my life I‘ve been paranoid about accidentally putting the wrong fuel in my cars and it turns out THAT’S NOT EVEN POSSIBLE ANYMORE because they made the diesel nozzles bigger, so they won’t fit

Why do anxieties inherited from my dad not update themselves 🙃🙃🙃

gigantos ,
@gigantos@social.linux.pizza avatar

@fasterthanlime @thejpster there is a solution and the name is SoloDiesel. I saw it in my local Volkswagen shop many years ago, and after a search it seems to still exist.

One thing code has that zed is missing is narrowing down by dirname in fuzzy search

In code I can do "Cargo.toml", it shows 8 results, I add space, then "cratename", it narrows down. In zed the query has to be "cratename/Cargo.toml", which is annoying.

gigantos ,

@fasterthanlime perhaps zed should start using Nucleo, it restarts the search from the beginning with every space. It is the fuzzy marcher used in the helix editor

Just witnessed someone join a call, stay silent for 30 minutes, and then wave bye.

There were like, 8 people on that call.

@fasterthanlime what if I don't like to speak in meetings? Not everyone is social. Should I be excluded from joining?

You can extract a lot of information from listening, and a post meeting report will likely miss important information.

I prefer to wait until there is something important to say, and that may not happen every meeting.

@fasterthanlime sorry for my ignorance. I have not been made aware of this. Also, I have no clue what you are referring to.

Re: Microsoft Recall

@fasterthanlime I think both. It will be shipped as is, but also that changes will be made.

No doubt a version is already tanked on all the June 18th machines, and at best this version can be altered with a Windows update, which takes a few days at least.

I have apparently developed a knack for going on a grocery run and loading my fridge up with stuff juuuuust before it hits a defrost cycle.

It's happened like three times this year!

gigantos ,
@gigantos@social.linux.pizza avatar

@TechConnectify I thought defrosting was a thing of the past. I don't think I ever owned a fridge that needed defrost, but I remember my parents had them.

gigantos ,
@gigantos@social.linux.pizza avatar

@TechConnectify that may explain it then. I also have the fridge and freezer as separate units.

But I remember back in the day when big lumps of ice formed on the inside, and you defrosted manually when it started taking up too much room.

My freezer says it has nofrost and describes it as a technology that avoids ice being created in the first place. No idea how it works. It is an Samsung RZ32M7520WW
