Funny enough, in Portuguese, the names for the sets are dirty direct translations of the Spanish versions, but applied to the French icons. It didn’t make much sense to me calling a losange “golds”, or a heart “cups”, a leaf “swords”, and a clover leaf “sticks”.

I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt in that they misspoke when saying trademark. Clearly it’s not that, but those nuances are not universally known.

And branding is not something up to popular vote. It’s, by definition, an image someone or some organization wants to project to the public. To them, they have spins for other DEs/WMs and that’s enough. And why wouldn’t it be?

Acceptable, yes. But a good manager knows not to shine a spotlight on the mistakes of the team. There's nothing to gain keeping it public that you wouldn't also gain by keeping it private. But your team's morale is kept high if you sing their praises instead of their shortcomings.
