Yeah, but a lot of conservatives, and by extension fascists, are extremely hypocritical on the surface, except they like to use "hypocrisy" as a tool against their opponents, and by "hypocrisy", I mean not following the strawman version of your ideology. I personally call this as "rulebending", they're manipulating their opponents rules to be even higher and thus choking them with it.

On a deeper level they just want a lot of power, which includes them being above the law, as long as they're loyal to the dictator/king. If project 2025 succeeds, expect one of them getting caught on live with real CP, maybe even raping a child, then will just go "so what? I can do this, you are not allowed to!".

I'm a disabled person, who voted Fidesz in 2010, and my face got eaten by the leopards. Due to the nature of my disability, I won't receive any help, I'm barred from driving cars thus barred from many local jobs. Those who can are re-examined every few years, and even amputees are body-searched sometimes for "tied-up limbs", and are preferred to instead seek some job which is specifically made for the disabled, which thanks to local version of ableism, is largely something specialized for the intellectually disabled, and the job descriptions often read like they were lifted from those godawful ableist jokes.

I woke up much sooner than when they ate my face. It was when they stripped a "supposed foreigner" of their company. The proof of them being a foreigner were having "stein" in their name, a "suspicious nose not common among real Hungarians", not being religious, and supporting liberalism.

Forced openness is good for certain things, but not so good on others. That's the reason why I licensed my game engine under BSL (whith some components of course under MIT, ZLib, and Apache), within the game development community things like that more accepted. It does have branding material, which anyone can use unless they were either behaved really badly, or being used for non-engine related material. Certain engine assets are under yet another license (public domain).

Since they're being trained on GPL (and possibly leaked proprietary) codes, I have banned them from my codebases. I also banned AI art from asset usage on similar + ethical grounds.

I used the limited HDR capabilities of my monitor (VA panel with no backlight zones I can spot) in some games, it's somewhat better than in normal mode, otherwise I just use SDR to save power.

I'm somewhat of a creator myself and I mostly use creative software that has Linux versions (will move to Linux once Win 10's support expires and/or I somehow get enough money for a new PC), and they're legit better than Adobe software for my usecase. Photoshop is nearly unusable for digital painting (it's more of a photo-editing software with some drawing capabilities), Krita is pretty good, and my only pet peewee was that some of the brush compositing modes had confusing names and were hidden deep inside the menu, but then I found "greater", which can somewhat mimic the behavior of the default CSP brushes.

Also can someone recommend me a guitar amp modeller (preferably an open-source one), that is available on Linux, so I won't suffer from both the demo of Guitar Rig came with my Arturia Minifuse, or with trying to get one running in Wine with all their complicated copy protection schemes?

There's also two main plus one lesser issue that are less commonly discussed:

1. Lack of manpower. FOSS devs often doing it as a side project on top of some other and/or a full-time job, so that even lowers one's ability of concentrate on stuff like the UI, when you're already working hard on fixing bugs, looking up things (which is getting harder and harder thanks to AI slop - I once managed to destroy a Linux on my Raspberry Pi while trying to adjust the path variables).
2. Getting comfortable with the uncomfortable parts of your application. There are many times I haven't noticed a a very uncomfortable part of my GUI after months of use, then I had to refactor things, which obviously took time away from other things. This also affects the users already in the userbase.

Elitism is also a factor. A lot of people like the feeling of being part of a special group, and for them, the steep learning curve is a feature, not a bug. I've seen Blender users being angry at the devs for "spoonfeeding" the normies, and letting in all kinds of people. Also just look at OP's image.

Notepad is the one that does things like that, because they want you to only use it for *.txt files. VSCode does not have issues like that.

I've seen people deleting those ugly *.exes and *.mp3s from their files. Hopefully they learned to not to, but I've heard cases who didn't.

Noob question: Could someone make e.g. an executable linkin park - numb.mp3 file on Linux by giving it execute permissions? Probably not by downloading, but by replacing the file with a duped one.

Also the .mp3.exe trick and the likes could be easily detected by any security software easily, like Windows Defender.

Issue is, I don't think even the current competition is helping them to get better, if they became smaller for some reason they'd just go back to their active sabotage days.

What I'd think would help to actually wither Microsoft's monopoly in addition of breaking it up is forcing them to open source Windows, thus taking their main leverage on the market. Windows would be a good (not great) OS if it wasn't for MS and its shareholders trying to monetize it as much as possible, and trying to make all computers like what the Junkman had in the Superhero Team vs. Genocidal Purple Guy Part 3.
