I've been learning a lot of new software lately and amidst the frustration there's a lot of trying something logical and going "ooooh they thought of that, that's so neat!"

Going back to Google products though, there's none of those moments. None at all.

@fasterthanlime I'm kind of amazed I actually had a recent experience like that with Discord for once, as I found out double-tapping the "Home" option now opens up your DM list, following the most recent UI update... 😹 A good change, for once...

I could go down the long rabbithole of figuring out how to call g*mp's image manipulation tools from a commandline or API, or getting imagemagick installed on this PC and figuring out how to port it over there...

or I could be silly and take advantage of the fact that I'm applying gamma ramps to an 8-bit greyscale image. What's the difference between the "before" and "after" images? a different palette.
