Challenged to live-toot games that I, apparently, should have played decades ago? I dabble in #retrocomputing, #pinball, #3DPrinting, and other stuff as well.

I'm gonna see if I can get my raspi to boot from a spinning rust drive. Why not?

@foone Absolutely possible. I have a couple of the discontinued WD Labs PiDrives here, they work well, albeit slowly:

I visited the MIT Flea today! A great selection of vintage '70s and '80s computers this time. I saw people happily boxing up VIC-20s and TRS-80s to take home. This is going to be a thread of some of what I saw, followed by what I ended up with myself.

This was a tiny, beautiful little terminal. I think the screen was only 8 or 10 inches diagonal, and the keyboard was similarly compact.

I don't know what this is, but it was beautiful. I considered buying it just for that alone.

(It just occurred to me that it's time for dinner, and I should get on that before posting more. Back later with more pictures.)

Two Compaq luggables. I really like the orange shade on the keys of the visible keyboard.

A tower of Wang chassis, and a monitor. I thought these were computers, but looking at them now, are these just extensions boxes to house the floppy drives? There's nothing visible on any of them aside from the drives themselves.

I'd never seen a Honeywell computer in person before.

I am enough of a nerd that I got excited the moment I saw this. I'd never seen a Pocket Disk before, either! This feels like something I should tag in @foone, since I believe they have a disk medium collection?

A photograph of a Sharp CE-1600P, a docking station for the Sharp PC-1600 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sharp_PC-1600) that contained a color plotter (not a printer!), a cassette interface, and the floppy drive from the previous photo.

damn it, irfanview 4.4 is too big to put on a floppy disk

@foone Such a brilliant program. I used it so much back when, I paid for a registration when I even started using it at work.

It had the most bonkers conversion capabilities. Do you need a plaintext file converted into a PNG? No, no one needs that. But IrfanView is happy to do it.
