I’ve got ADHD, ASD, & a history of depression, & panic/anxiety disorder.
I take anti depressants monitored by a psychiatrist, & see a therapist regularly.
Being “person off the internet” I’m usually careful not to talk about personal stuff. I’m in the odd position where people have a parasocial relationship with me, and are interested in me and my life.
I enjoy sharing my work, humour, and things I’ve made online. But that doesn’t entitle anyone to know anything about my personal life.
I’ve seen other creators have their life and relationships discussed, and I don’t want that.
I’m sharing personal info despite this, in case it helps someone.
@mattgrayyes Thanks for sharing. I'm also non-binary. In my case I think I'm genderfluid. Also demisexual, possibly asexual. We've met in passing a couple of times (2 EMF camps and one Lessons for Curious People). You're right about the importance of visibility, but make sure you look after yourself first. Keep making the awesome content!
@mattgrayyes you certainly don't owe us access to any of your personal life, but I appreciate you sharing all the same. I have some of these traits in common with you, and I'll admit it can be nice to learn that a creator I'm drawn to maybe experiences things through some similar lenses to mine.
@mattgrayyes being able to airgap your personal and internet lives is getting harder and harder, I'm glad you feel able to share this part of yourself with the wider world but understand your reluctance to do so.
@mattgrayyes I'd like to ask a question that's none of my business. How much of your mental healthcare have you had to go private for?
My GP is happy to prescribe me meds, which are fucking amazing, but unless I'm out on a ledge, it seems like only the most urgent cases get any NHS care.
