@mattgrayyes I've stayed in motels in Barstow, California. Pretty much the only reason you'd be staying in Barstow is before/after desert camping or offroading trips.
I remember a motel where you had to provide your own shampoo, but they provided free trail mix and Emergen-C packets. They know their audience.
