Biden set to levy 100% tariffs on Chinese EVs this week

Both the US and EU are deeply concerned about heavily subsidized Chinese OEMs.

How to tell us that you don't believe in Global Warming without saying you don't believe in Global Warming.

@arstechnica you know, there's no reason we can't heavily subsidize American EVs and compete on equal terms (except a slavish devotion to the notion of market capitalism).

@arstechnica these cars are mostly plastic and are horrible with the cobalt and Lithium mining..

The future is not everyone having their own car.

This is just someone wanting to sell you another car not fix the issue.

@arstechnica They should be deeply concerned in developing their own industry with re-investment, instead of giving tax breaks to billionaires and not making stock buy-backs illegal.

@arstechnica I don't know about US, but in EU we're more worried about apocalyptic climate change that is accelerated by people continuing to burn stuff (including, but not limited to, in internal combustion engine cars) than a few car manufacturers having a hard time because they doggedly stuck to designing and making more shitty petrol, diesel & hybrid cars.

  • Yes, all cars are bad.

@arstechnica I'd rather shift all oil and gas subsidies to subsidize American EVs

@arstechnica Well this'll really help the effort to slow climate change.
