Just in time to switch back to the loratadine!

"Interestingly, several antihistamine drugs [...] which have been approved for treating allergy symptoms without side effects for decades, have been found to prevent SARS-CoV-2 infection or replication via protein-protein interaction analysis or drug library profiling (30–35)."

I wonder if anyone has made an FPGA core for a CPU that natively runs BASIC

@frang no because it's a microcontroller running a basic interpreter.
I mean a CPU that just natively runs BASIC.

Broke the "RJ45 nose" on my longest cat-5 #ethernet cable.
Was angry at me (and the inventor), then remembered there is a 3d printed replacement for it. Looks like I have to fire up the printer soon (which I also need to do because there are #CatEars for my Sony ANC headphones)...

it took me 30 years to find this again.

way back in 1993, my family's Amstrad XT gave up the ghost, and my folks agreed to make the leap to a brand new IBM PS/1 486 SX-33

the machine was an ass-kicking $3000, and we didn't have the money for it. my parents took out a multi-year loan. my father tried his best to wheel and deal, and convinced the salesperson to throw in a Canon BJ-200e printer, and a bunch of CD-ROMs

for the first year we owned the machine, i did nothing but scour every single directory on the ten CDs that came with it.

i played a LOT of shareware Doom, King's Quest V and Stellar 7, and watched terrible postage stamp-sized videos on a CD called "Media Clips" and "Animation Festival".

i always thought these CDs were just bare discs that store had sitting around that the salesman threw in out of pity. when i'd search for them on ebay, i'd find just individual discs.

it wasn't until a few months ago that i discovered they were all part of a CD compilation called The Sirius Software 5ft10 Pack: a cheesy vinyl wallet of mostly shovelware!

i finally tracked a complete copy of it down a few weeks ago, and it just arrived. my entire childhood is in this six-foot vinyl sleeve 😻

CDs hanging in a wallet: Animation Festival: Multi-media, Virtual reality game included! King's Quest V talkie edition Software Toolworks World Atlas Time Magazine: Man of the Year
CD's hanging from a wallet: Classic Oldies: PC Karaoke Stellar 7 by Dynamix CD-ROM of CDROMs: A Consumer's Guide to CD-ROM The Best of MediaClips 2.01

Just missed out on picking up this crazy gamepad on eBay - if I hadn't had an early night I might've spotted it.

Will you just look at this thing!? It's not a gameport device, it plugs in through PS/2 or a DIN port (with what look like adapters from one to the other). It's got Alt, Control and Delete buttons. It's got an enter button. It's got a second D-pad in the middle for some reason. The most normal thing about it is the "P" button, and that's saying something.

A photo of the back of the box, espousing its many features, including 16 HYPER Programmable buttons, 4 user-defined macros, and a keyboard port interface.
A photo of the gamepad itself, with its manual and cable. The cable ends in a round PC keyboard plug instead of a 15-pin gameport plug.

I spent the afternoon tearing into the depression piles and finding shit I forgot I even ordered. I also started hitting the disorganized stacks of shit and putting them in labeled bins so I can put the stuff that belongs on a bookshelf on one. I can also walk in my room now which is an improvement.
