I'm going to start calling all these bullshit posts as they are.

They aren't entertaining. Karma is not even a thing anymore on Lemmy. So why are you lying?

TrickDacy ,

So that pulled out text essentially saying the exact opposite of what the OP screenshot says is not the same thing?

TrickDacy ,

I literally only replied because I looked at it. Just because there's a small tagline present in theirs doesn't mean anything

TrickDacy ,

There is a lab icon which I clicked and I shows me this.

Then if I click the try example button I see this

I'm pretty sure they are just testing different UI presentations of that same feature.

TrickDacy ,

Thanks prick

TrickDacy ,

Fair enough. Thanks for not being a dick about it like some of the others were

TrickDacy ,

Ah, the transphobe returns to white knight for the asshole

In any case nothing you say matters

TrickDacy ,

If anyone ever had a friend who never had anything good happen to them and you wonder if something is up with them mentally...totally the same vibes as this post

TrickDacy , (Bearbeitet )

Is this real? Literally never seen anything this bad myself. Granted I don't use Excel or many other ms products. GitHub copilot would literally never be this bad though

TrickDacy ,

Aren't you cool tho? Because all the cool kids spend every day shitting on AI

TrickDacy ,

Thank you. Op is a lying karma whore

TrickDacy ,

Yeah this reminds me of the time I argued with a guy who stood firmly by the opinion that because Facebook has terms of service that people agreed to, there was nothing wrong or unethical about Facebook business practices and everyone who used it deserved what they got

TrickDacy ,

This attitude is what props up billions of people's privacy being invaded with zero recourse. No. Just no.

TrickDacy ,

My windows install enjoys rebooting itself unexpectedly a lot. There is no chance I ever checked a box that said "update then reboot my computer at some time in the future"

TrickDacy ,

Your comment increasingly sounds like a bootlick

TrickDacy ,

Lol alternative OSes are a hobby but most of us have several others too, obviously

TrickDacy ,

So what you're hand waving away here is legalese and how no one can understand much of it even if they did read it. Absolutely no one reads every page of the 50 you're required to sign when buying a house, for example.

But we have trust that society wouldn't allow us to buy a house if people are hiding sneaky shit in the contractual language. Yes we have a few things like variable interest rates but no one is signing away their privacy rights in perpetuity in exchange for the chance to buy a home. We have a society that gives us certain expectations, and quite often those are met.

No, to use a computer we should not have to read 100 pages of documents and understand all of them. It's impractical and that's illustrated by the fact that billions of people so far haven't read any of that shit.

You are right that we ought to be more careful signing stuff, but that's a separate discussion imo. We shouldn't even have the option legally of accidentally agreeing to such self sabotage

TrickDacy ,

Yeah so you're that guy. 👎

TrickDacy ,

But muh tab preferences!

TrickDacy , (Bearbeitet )

There is no fucking way Firefox is that unpopular, but actually yeah it's trivial to argue that browser choice is hanging by a thread and it's not a good thing

TrickDacy ,

Big akshually vibes

TrickDacy ,

No it didn't. Changing a few colors isn't really the same as "cool theming"

TrickDacy ,

Especially the assumption that almost no one would want to have more than 1 DE installed.

I am not so sure about this. Over the years this is first I've even heard of the concept

TrickDacy ,

You're right except button images. That wasn't a thing. But you could change fonts which I'd forgotten. My point though is that the things they let you change were pretty limited.

TrickDacy ,

That might have been true. I'm referring to the settings you could change in control panel, without any additional software.

TrickDacy ,

Yeah I think some PCs came with Plus bundled/pre-installed. I got a copy from a friend at one point years into the 98 era, but otherwise never used Plus.

TrickDacy ,

Yeah, I used some theme apps on windows. Sadly, they crashed semi often and were a bit slow the rest of the time

TrickDacy ,

...I run it fairly well on a raspberry pi so I'm kind of confused about this one. Are we claiming arch is slow or what?

TrickDacy ,

Yeah... I wonder if it's a specific desktop environment. although I thought people generally considered gnome on the slow side but that's what my pi runs pretty decently

TrickDacy ,

Op doesn't run applications, just an os...

TrickDacy ,

I hope 3000 is a gross exaggeration

TrickDacy ,

(basically a terribly inefficient IDE

Hard disagree

TrickDacy ,

Your experience matches mine more than op's. In fact I have a super shitty old laptop running gnome on fedora with a 32gb drive and I think 4 GB of RAM, maybe less, and it still sounds better than the experience they're claiming to have had with 6 gb ram.

TrickDacy ,

You picked two of the crappiest apps ever.

TrickDacy ,

Calm down, Satan

TrickDacy ,

Yeah, I'm with you there, but I'm also a believer in having a little more ram than you need. After a couple of decades of feeling that occasional bottleneck it seems like a relatively cheap prevention measure.

TrickDacy ,

By pointing out that her theory had zero basis in at least one case? That's an interesting way to "be right"

TrickDacy , (Bearbeitet )

Chrome simps unite!

People don't use Firefox because of trends, not because it's somehow inferior. Yeah, no one gives a shit about your extremely weird tab preferences

TrickDacy ,

You think the profile feature is a popular reason to use chrome? I have been using the Internet since mid 90s and I never once used it on any browser until last year. No issues with it on FF btw

TrickDacy ,

So in your mind this meme is talking shit because somehow extensions are objectively inferior? Extensions are great because not everyone has the same preferences. To me this meme doesn't at all criticize Firefox, as this is a valid choice faced with many features.

TrickDacy ,

I don't know of a case where anything is "relying on extensions". The extensions I use are almost all for something not everyone wants/needs. And I use a lot, which is a good thing imo. I can disable or replace extensions that no longer do what I want or I no longer need.

TrickDacy ,

You're successfully using profiles in Firefox you mean?
